Hailed for her “rich, unique tone” and “compelling stage presence” Mezzo-soprano Jessica Costelloe first began singing after being accepted into the Dublin Choral Foundation at the age of 10 where she trained under the conductor Ite O’Donovan.
Whilst a pupil at More House, London, Jessica attended the Junior Division of the Royal Academy of Music. After graduating from high school in London, Jessica was awarded a place at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music (NYC, USA), where she began her vocal studies under the tutelage of Marlena Malas.
Operatic roles include: At Juilliard, Zita (Puccini; Gianni Schicchi), Oberon (Britten; A Midsummer Night’s Dream) Genevieve (Paul Hindemith; The Long Christmas Dinner) and Mrs. Todd (Menotti; The Old Maid and the Thief). At Chautauqua Opera NYC; Mercedes (Bizet; Carmen), Larina (Tchaikovsky; Eugene Onegin), Mrs. McLean (Carlysle Floyd; Susannah) Pallade (Monteverde; L’incoronazione di Poppea).
In both 2013 and 2014, Jessica was a Young Artist for Garsington Opera (UK), followed by Grange Park Opera (UK), in 2015. In October 2014, she made her National Concert Hall (Dublin) debut with lyric opera Ireland and the lyric opera orchestra in The Genius of Mozart under the direction of Vivian Coates.
In July 2015 Jessica was seen making her BBC Proms debut with Grange Park Opera in their production of the Fiddler on the Roof.
