Event description

Description

Internationally renowned photographer KEVIN CUMMINS joins us in conversation, focusing on his new publication Morrissey: Alone and Palely Loitering.

The images in this book chronicle Morrissey's world as he emerged from The Smiths and established himself as a solo artist. Hundreds of previously unseen photographs cover chaotic live performances, intimate portrait sessions and snatched moments backstage and on tour over a ten-year period. Cummins provides insightful commentary on the art of photography and what it was like to work and travel with Morrissey.

This treat of an in conversation will be accompanied by visual insights to the book and of course to the front and back stage story of Morrissey.

A dedicated book-signing session will follow the event.

Manchester-born Kevin Cummins has an international reputation as one of the world's leading photographers and is famed for his iconic portraits of musicians including Joy Division, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Mick Jagger, Patti Smith and Oasis. These photographs have appeared on magazine covers and in art galleries and museums including the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and in cities including New York, Buenos Aires, Berlin, Bologna and many others. Chief photographer at the NME for over ten years, Kevin captured some of the best known images in modern music history - his work has decorated bedroom walls the world over.
