MOSAIQUES is a festival of world culture, and celebrate diversity in music, film and the arts from all over the world. This year's live music line-up for the main shows at Rich Mix will features cutting-edge contemporary music produced in France, UK, Turkey and beyond, with a mix of genres to delight all ears.
For its 16th edition, MOSAIQUES is broadening its scope and expanding its programme to cover two nights of live music at Richmix, on the 14th & 15th October.
Each of the two nights of the festival - Friday 14th and Saturday 15th October – will feature three different acts.
And for the first year, MOSAIQUES will also present some daytime FREE activities on Saturday afternoon : a lunchtime gig by Laura Cahen, Blick Bassy discussing his novel ‘Le Moabi Cinema’, and a film screening. Those events will be free but ticketed, with tickets available on Eventbrite.
DAY 1 - FRIDAY 14TH OCTOBER - RICHMIX PROGRAMME
The idea of integrating haunting lines, sung in honour of the Divinities, and energetic 70s Afro-funk was an obvious extension in Peter Solo’s mind of the analogy he found between the vaudou tradition and trance-inducing musical forms like blues and funk, particularly the rhythm ’n’ blues of James Brown, Otis Redding and Wilson Picket. Peter Solo heard this new sound coming through him and named it Vaudou Game.
The band will be celebrating the release of the second album Kidayu.
Their music has been described as “internationalist music”, “guerrilla jazz”, “contemporary world-fusion” and “global protest music” - however you attempt to describe them, Kefaya are a band that truly escape musical definition. An eclectic group of immigrants, travellers and international artists, Kefaya seek to find the common ground between folk traditions of the world with a cutting-edge sound rooted firmly in the 21st century. The performance precedes the release of their debut album Radio International.
THE ODD BEATS
The Odd Beats describe themselves as “Turkish turbo-folk”. Dila V's powerful vocals and endless energy shines through while Fati Ebrem's intricate guitar playing style and his unique use of the wah wah pedal mesmerises those who experience The Odd Beats. Their music is embellished with eastern percussion and powerful ethnic rhythms that make you dance like crazy!
For the first year we are offering festival passes for the two days, as well as early bird prices of £11+ booking fees until the 11th of September , to attend both evening of music at a great price:
