MOSAIQUES is a festival of world culture, and celebrate diversity in music, film and the arts from all over the world. This year's live music line-up for the main shows at Rich Mix will features cutting-edge contemporary music produced in France, UK, Turkey and beyond, with a mix of genres to delight all ears.
For its 16th edition, MOSAIQUES is broadening its scope and expanding its programme to cover two nights of live music at Richmix, on the 14th & 15th October.
Each of the two nights of the festival - Friday 14th and Saturday 15th October – will feature three different acts.
And for the first year, MOSAIQUES will also present some daytime FREE activities on Saturday afternoon : a lunchtime gig by Laura Cahen, Blick Bassy discussing his novel ‘Le Moabi Cinema’, and a film screening. Those events will be free but ticketed, with tickets available on Eventbrite.
DAY 2 - SATURDAY 15TH OCTOBER - RICHMIX
Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho are Acid Arab. The basic idea behind the Parisian duo's project is to weld a loose network of Eastern influences—strings, percussion and Arabic melodies—to the framework of house and techno. In their own words, the project first started "as a concept, then a Facebook group, then a party, then (almost) a genre, then it was us."
ACID ARAB (LIVE)
Acid Arab are taking their dialogue between house and techno and Eastern musical traditions to a new level on debut album Musique de France, and are unveiling a brand-new live show in London.
SOFIANE SAIDI & TIM WHELAN "EL MORDJANE" DUO
Born in Algeria, in Sidi bel Abbes - the cradle of raï music - Sofiane Saidi was raised on both Arab traditional melodies and modern western music in his family. From this hotchpotch, created his own genre and style of singing, drawing as much on Cheika Rimiti, Oum Keltoum, Raïna raï and Farid el Atrache as Otis Redding, James Brown and Ella Fitzgerald. He is appearing at MOSAIQUES as half of the ‘El Mordjane duo’ with Tim Whelan, one of the founders of world fusion legends Transglobal Underground.
Endorsed by BBC Introducing, Afro Pop singer-songwriter Yasmin Kadi has performed alongside the likes of Paloma Faith and Peace at the 02 Forum and headlined the Women of The World Festival (WOW) at the Royal Festival Hall Southbank. She recently landed a role in an episode of the American TV Series Tyrant and has been a guest on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour.
