About this Event

Community Pharmacy Sheffield’s Chair, Chief Officer and Committee Members cannot over-emphasise the importance of this event so you can be updated on what the new contract means for you; also the changes and challenges Primary Care Networks (PCNs) will bring for every Community Pharmacy. The meeting will also briefly incorporate our AGM and sign off of the Financial Statements for 2018-19.

It is HUGELY important that every Community Pharmacy has as many representatives as possible at this event.

Overview of Evening:

  • New Contract - Overview and Q&A's;
  • Primary Care Networks - what they mean locally;
  • Opportunity to network with your PCN colleagues
  • AGM formalities

Quote from David Russell, CPS Chair and CCA Member: It feels like community pharmacy has been stuck in a rut for some time now and, with the funding cuts of recent times, we have all found it more and more difficult to make ends meet. There has been less income from the national contract which has put even more pressure on pharmacy teams. With the new Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework announced and the new GP contract announced recently, it has become clear that routes for local commissioning will be through Primary Care Networks (PCNs). Although these networks are initially set up by GPs, it is clear that the whole primary care team need to be involved with delivery at a local level. PCNs are the route that local funding will flow through and it is therefore vital that pharmacy owners and their teams understand the concept and how they can engage with them. The AGM is the ideal place to begin as we will have experts available to explain and answer questions. Please don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn how these networks can affect your pharmacy’s future!

Quote from Crispin Bliss, CPS Vice Chair and Independent Member: PCNs are coming like it or not and Community Pharmacy Teams need to get on board early so they can help focus their development locally. The PCNs are going to lead to greater primary care integration and will have funds available for local services. It is therefore important to understand their structure and how they are proposed to work, so you can become more involved in your local PCN.

Quote from Simon Hay, CPS Independent Member: It feels as though Community Pharmacy has been at the crossroads forever, but the recently announced new contract finally gives us a way forward. However, if you are working flat out just to stand still, how do you work out what a PCN or the new Community Pharmacy Consultation Service means to you? And how do you understand the benefits and challenges to your patients, your pharmacy and your bottom line? The AGM is the first step to understanding where we fit into the new Healthcare landscape. So why not make the time to attend and find out more?
