Event description
Motivations and Minefields - Advising Clients with Diverse Backgrounds on Philanthropy

About this Event

Part of the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland's #PoweredByPhilanthropy 2019

How confident would you feel raising the topic of philanthropy and giving with clients with diverse backgrounds? Totally confident? Not at all confident? Would you feel comfortable talking about their motivations or would you be worried that you might say the wrong thing?

From the Muslim pound, to the pink and black pound, we will explore how professional advisors can help to unlock diversity capital and create stronger communities in North East England. Expert speakers, including Lauren Janus of Thoughtful Philanthropy, will be sharing their experiences with us.

Lauren is a native of the charitable giving sector with a passion for helping donors get the most joy out of their giving. As the Director of Thoughtful Philanthropy, Lauren helps professional advisers offer charitable giving services to their valued clients. Lauren will share her experiences working with diverse donor communities both in the US and the UK, and discuss trends in how LGBTQ, BME and other donor groups are taking a unique approach to charitable giving.

Further speakers will be announced shortly.

This event is for solicitors, accountants, wealth managers and Independent Financial advisors.

Breakfast provided courtesy of event sponsors Ward Hadaway.
