Event description

Description

Come and join us for an amazing three days of midsummer guided mountain walking and yoga in the beautiful Scottish Highlands; all in the company of a small group of like-minded adventurous women. Stravaiging or wandering the hills with no purpose other than to simply enjoy the experience of walking.

Surrounded by world class mountainscapes in the stunning setting of Glencoe we will enjoy two challenging guided, high mountain days aiming for Munro summits, over 3000 feet (914 metres). We will finish on the third day with a lower level shorter walk and of course, a visit to a tea shop. Opportunities for Chi Gonq and some short, mindful meditations will be woven into the walks and each day will finish with a restorative Seasonal Yoga class aimed at balancing our summer energy lines.

This long weekend is an opportunity to socialise, relax, recharge and reboot. A chance to step out of your everyday life into the wild world of the mountains, gaining inspiration from being out in the elements, physically immersed with every step we take out on the hill. Midsummer means long, light days and short nights and the chance to soak up the abundant summer energy of this special time of year. This is not a traditional retreat so there will be no extended periods of silence. Instead, this is a weekend for you to spend time outdoors in a high mountain environment, hiking and exploring with good company, lots of chat and the chance to share your experience with your fellow adventurers.

All walks are led by a qualified female Mountain Leader who will be in charge of planning the day’s hiking taking into account weather conditions and the fitness of the group. Yoga classes are led by qualified Yoga Instructors. Accommodation is in the amazing Glencoe Independent Hostel Alpine Bunkhouse. The Alpine Bunkhouse has basic, shared dormitory style rooms, shared bathrooms (there are no ensuites or single rooms) and an all-important drying room! We have sole use of the Bunkhouse and will only be using half the beds so there will be plenty of room. The weekend is fully catered and all meals are vegetarian/vegan and we will muck in to help with serving food and clearing up afterwards.

This is a deliberately small-scale event with a maximum of nine places available so don’t miss out on your space! No previous hillwalking experience is needed but a good level of fitness is essential to enjoy the experience. As a minimum you will need a comfortable pair of walking boots, a full set of waterproofs and rucksack. A full kit list is available. Please get in touch if you have any questions prior to making your booking.

A typical day might look like this:

7am Mobilizing Yoga practice.

7.30am Breakfast. Make up packed lunches.

8.30am Depart for day’s mountain walk.

The walk may last for up to 9 hours with significant and sustained periods of ascent and descent over 1000 metres. The walks will be on paths but these may steep, rough and rocky with some exposed sections. Short periods of Chi Gonq sequences, guided meditations or mindful walking may be woven in at appropriate points. Please note all outdoors activities are dependent on weather conditions on the day. The final decision for the route taken rests with the guide.

6pm Dinner

8pm Restorative Seasonal Yoga class.
