About this event

Move into Being Ecstatic Dance is an event where you can dance freely to great music in a chat-free zone and connect with yourself on the deepest level. Imagine dancing without inhibition, expressing yourself authentically and waking up feeling fresh and satisfied looking back at the night before.

For those who are new to Ecstatic Dance, you definitely don't need to 'know how to dance', it's more about allowing your body to experiment with moving the way it wants to.

If you feel self-conscious, you might find you let go of that on your first dance or it might take a few; either way, it's such a wonderful feeling when it does happen!

Ecstatic dance is a space to honour yourself exactly as you are right now, so you don't have to pretend to be happy, all emotions are welcome and you have a chance to express them and release them – just keep moving.

Move Into Being is hosted by your DJs and facilitators, Monica and John. They both share a passion for creating space for people to relax into themselves.

They will play a 'wave' of music of different tempos and genres to enable your bodies to move in different ways. Your body knows what it wants to do and may like to stretch, have a shake-out, roll around on the floor – that's all fine. You might like to dance alone and at times with others, that's all fine too.

You can expect to hear a range of music including World music, Tribal, House and Garage and Electronica.

After the 7pm start, it is a chat-free zone, this is so that we can really let go of all the mental-chatter and just BE. We dance barefoot and without the aid of intoxicants, to enjoy and connect with our bodies and our true selves.

We ask that:

You don't chat during the dance – this helps you stay in your body.

You don't drink or take drugs – we are going on a natural high together.

No spectating – so we really can dance like no one is watching!

Bring:

A bottle of water.

Wear:

Comfortable clothing that you can move freely in.

No shoes – we dance barefoot so that our feet consciously connect with the ground. Some people may prefer to wear socks with grips. There will be an area to leave your shoes and other belongings.

6.30pm Doors open

Music will be playing and it's a chance for people to arrive in a relaxed way, have a stretch or warm up and get comfortable in the space.

7pm Start (no late admission unless prior agreement)

We start with a warm up which includes guidance to help you deeply connect with your body and let it take the lead.

This leads into the main dance which goes on until 9.30pm.

9.30-10pm Social

Feel free to stay and chat, herbal teas and snacks will be provided.

You can pay Cash on the door but please contact us in advance if you want to do this (at General Admission rate)

The local car park (between the Community Centre and the Sarah Moore Pub) is free after 6pm.

Let's make this a regular event! We plan to bring cacao ceremonies into our future events. Other plans include guest DJs and collaborations with holistic practitioners.
