Dalcroze Eurhythmics Music Workshop for Ballet Teachers and Student Ballet Teachers with Live Class Musicians

About this event

Dalcroze Eurhythmics Music Workshop for Ballet Teachers and Student Ballet Teachers with live class musicians

Dalcroze is an approach to teaching and learning music through playful, purposeful, dynamic movement activities. This experiential approach to music education was developed by Emile Jacques-Dalcroze, a Swiss composer and music educator as a way of awakening, developing, and refining innate musicality through rhythmic movement (often called eurhythmics), ear-training, and improvisation.

This unique approach to musical learning makes music vivid for everyone, from young beginners through adult professionals. When experiencing a Dalcroze class, you begin to feel, express, and master the flow that is essential to music, dance, and the other performing arts.

Through a Dalcroze approach, in this workshop you will

  • Explore basic principles of music theory relevant to teaching and learning ballet
  • Develop a deeper understanding of musical styles as applied to free work in ballet class
  • Gain valuable experience in working more effectively with your live ballet class musician
  • Be introduced to inspirational Dalcroze music games and exercises that you can confidently implement in your ballet class/studio right away.

This exciting workshop is led by Dr Marilyn Wyers (dancer, ballet teacher, dalcroze teacher and pianist) and Debbi Parks (composer, pianist, flautist and ballet teacher)
