Event description

Description

Come and be inspired by our amazing line-up of speakers who will educate and entertain you. By the end of the day you will leave with a wealth of knowledge and motivation to apply all you have learned to help older people enjoy active, healthier, happier lives.

The day will include networking opportunities as well as Q&As with our speakers. Refreshments will be provided as well as a complimentary lunch too.

Confirmed speakers:

Professor Janet Lord - Director of the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing, University of Birmingham.

Janet works within a multidisciplinary research institute, bringing together fundamental scientists and clinicians to translate understanding of the process of inflammation in to new treatments for chronic age-related inflammatory disease and the consequences of major trauma. Janet is a regular speaker at our conference and this year will be talking about nutrition and healthy ageing.

Dr Kier Philip - Dancer, doctor and research.

Having performed and taught dance in Ireland, South Africa, Colombia, Mexico, and the UK, Keir now works as a doctor in London. He is currently doing his PhD on dance and singing interventions in chronic lung disease at the National Heart and Lung Institute. He has developed dance-based rehabilitation for people with multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in South Africa, co-created Singing for Breathing Uganda, and is the founder of the DanceAble Collective (www.DanceAble.co.uk). Previous roles include Dance Artist in residence for Vital Arts, member of Project Breakalign, UCLPartner Improvement Fellow 2017 and an honorary researcher at the UCL Institute for Health and Human Performance. Keir is passionate about holistic asset-based approaches to health and rehabilitation and has created various projects to support this philosophy.
