This workshop is designed to explore shoulder girdle movements and teach you how to engage your shoulders to climb more efficiently. Understanding how to engage your shoulders correctly will help reduce strain not only on the shoulder girdle but on elbows, wrists and fingers. Therefore, this essential workshop is highly recommended for all climbers who are:
- interested in developing strength for climbing,
- interested in injury prevention for climbing,
- interested in longevity in climbing.
AIMS:
1. Outline shoulder girdle movement on and off the climbing wall
2. Assess your shoulder girdle engagement in 2 arm and 1 arm positions
3. Teach you strength and conditioning drills to improve your shoulder girdle engagement for climbing
4. Addressing shoulder engagement when climbing on overhangs and its importance in connecting your core to your legs and feet
5. Addressing shoulder engagement when moving dynamically, when in fear and when things feel hard.
INSTRUCTOR
Veronica Lee is a Physiotherapist and passionate rock climber who has specialised in rock climbing injuries over the last 6 years. She has treated many climbers across Ireland, running her Physio clinics from Lisburn and Dublin.
