Every first Tuesday of the month we gather for Move&Relax, an experience that goes beyond a class - it offers a calm space to explore movement, mindfulness, and relaxation at your own pace. So if you want to reconnect with yourself and find a quiet moment in a busy day, this session is for you.

It's your time to:

Who’s behind Move & Relax?

Move & Relax is guided by Sev (he/him), who created the session drawing on personal experiences and many years as a wellbeing lead, supporting others to feel energised, relaxed and balanced.

Practical details

📍 Location: Marleigh Community Centre, Jubilee Square (in The Hangar building, behind Marleigh’s Co-Op and opposite Marleigh Primary Academy).

🕢 Doors open: 6:50pm

🕣 Session runs: 7:00pm – 8:30pm (please arrive before 7:00pm so we can start together)

💡 Tip: Use Google Maps and type “Marleigh Community Centre.” It’s just a 2-minute walk from the Newmarket Road Park & Ride.

Good to know

  • Bring water to drink and wear something loose and comfortable.
  • During the session you can be barefoot or wear clean and comfortable shoes.
  • Adult-focused (under-18s must be accompanied by an adult).
  • I encourage you to travel by bike, use public transport, or walk to the centre. If you need to use your car, there is Park and Ride parking available a 2-minute walk from the Marleigh Community Centre.

What is the “Move&Relax” session?

It's a versatile session where you can move, dance, walk, or simply unwind and relax, doing whatever feels right for you in the moment. I've curated a playlist with diverse rhythms, and we meet in a spacious building with relaxing lighting to enhance the experience. We finish with relaxation part.

What are the benefits of the “Move&Relax” session?

Engaging in gentle movement or dance not only benefits our physical health but also enhances our mental well-being, effectively reducing stress levels. Trying out Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) techniques might also calm you down, lower your blood pressure, and even help you sleep better.

How much does a ticket cost? Why are donations requested?

Move&Relax started in 2023 as a free community project. Now, to keep the sessions open and accessible for everyone, I ask for a donation. Suggested donations are £6 - £12, but any contribution you can give is appreciated so I can continue offering a welcoming space for you to Move&Relax.

What music are you going to play?

Variety of music genres: instrumental, electronic, world, classical, and more, providing the perfect backdrop for movement and self-expression. From Mozart to Kate Bush, Philip Glass to Moderat, and beyond, our sessions offer a global tapestry of sounds, ensuring each playlist is fresh and exciting.

What is the relaxation part?

At the end of the session, I lead a 15-minute relaxation session, which includes Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) and breathing exercises. You can choose to sit in a chair or lay down on the floor; if you prefer lying down, bring a yoga mat and extra support for your comfort.

Are you going to teach me how to dance or move?

I strongly believe that anyone can dance and move in their own beautiful way. I’m not going to teach you how to dance or move but will guide you through this experience to connect with yourself, free yourself and let go of everything.
