Event description

Description

Training for any form of counselling/therapy in Mongolia is very limited This September we hope to raise enough funds to bring five aspiring and dedicated art therapy students to Adelaide so they can complete their practice training and meet those who will mentor them in establishing programs for vulnerable people in Mongolia.

For a mere $25 you are welcome to attend our exciting movie fundraiser event. Between 5:30 and 6:15, we will be offering drinks, nibbles, raffle and silent auction featuring the work of Adelaide's craftiest artisans.Glenda will also be giving a short speech about the project. The film will start screening at approximately 6:30pm.

Why not bring a group of friends and make a night of it? The screening will conclude around 8:15, still in time for a late dinner on the Parade!

On the big screen, you will be treated to the inspiring tale of Thirteen-year-old Aisholpan who trains to become the first female in twelve generations of her Kazakh family to become an Eagle huntress. The story is simple and heartwarming. The rosy-cheeked 13-year-old heroine, is trained by her father to hunt on horseback with a golden eagle - traditionally a male pursuit - and shocks everyone by winning the prestigious eagle-hunters' competition held annually in the town of Ulgii, in north-western Mongolia. It has a stirring musical soundtrack, ends with an anthem "You can do anything" sung by pop superstar Sia, and is narrated by another teenage role model, Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley.
