Wed 17 May 2017, 09:30 – 15:30 BST
Education needs future leaders who bring new perspectives, new thinking, new ideas and who have the skills and knowledge to lead in an ever-changing educational world.
This aspiring leadership course is specifically designed for teachers who aspire to middle leadership. The course is based on developing the core leadership skills and approaches. It aims to help aspiring leaders understand the behaviours and traits required to make the transition from classroom manager to middle leader. It considers the opportunities and challenges of leadership in our schools today and through discussion, reflection and scenario based learning, will develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to lead a team of professional in a modern educational environment.
One of our greatest challenges is the elevation of good classroom managers to middle leadership. Indeed, investing in middle-level leaders is thought to be a key ingredient of future performance of any ambitious school. It is envisaged that any teacher who attends the course will be empowered to meet the challenges of leadership and have the confidence to take the next step.
This course is for teachers who have never held an official leadership position in the school but who aspire to middle leadership in the future.
