Introduction

Just because a person is very good at their job does not automaticaly mean he or she will be a good manager. This course will enable delegates to learn the additional skills required when taking on a management role, such as motivating and directing people, training new employees, handling conflict, delegating, giving feedback, communicating effectively, evaluating performance and building a strong team. The course is aimed at newly appointed supervisors or managers, or those looking to develop a career in management.

Course content

The course is practical and interactive and delegates will take part in group activities and discussions, as well as working on individual plans and exercuses.

On completion of this course the delegate will be able to:

  • Be able to bring out the best in others and motivate them to get the best results
  • How to set standards and review performance
  • Know how to plan, organise and manage time, and set goals and priorities
  • Know to communicate effectively and deal with difficult people
  • Know how to give feedback and handle unsatisfactory performance
  • Have an understanding of basic employment legislation
  • Understand how leadership skills and styles affect performance
  • Understand how to implement continuous improvement
