Event description

Description

The Government is bringing forward legislation to repeal the Swedish derogation and ban the use of this type of contract.

This amendment abolishes the Swedish Derogation and will guarantee equal wages with those of comparable permanent workers for all long-term agency workers. This change therefore has significant legal implications for both labour providers that supply and labour users that use agency workers on this form of contract

This change is intended to prevent situations like those uncovered through BEIS’ research where pay between assignments does not happen and individuals are kept on very long term contracts without their right to equal pay with this opt-out being used to reduce the size of the hirer’s paybill.

This two hour legal training webinar, will cover the following in detail:

  • History of AWR Regulation 10 / Pay between Assignments / Swedish Derogation clause including case law
  • Abolition – not just when but also how
  • Effects on existing Regulation 10 contracts of employment
  • Options available – and practical steps to deal with changes
  • Legal implications of moving to i) an assignment based contract of employment for agency workers ii) a contract for services.

At the end of your booking confirmation you will find a link to register on GoTo Webinar. Please make sure you do so in order to obtain instructions how to connect on the day.
