Event description
Moving Outreach online – Keeping connected with PRONI during the COVID-19 Pandemic, by Lynsey Gillespie .

About this event

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Northern Ireland in March 2020, the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) had to close its archives to the public and move all outreach work online. As well as running virtual talks as part of its annual programme of events, PRONI has delivered nine online outreach programmes during lockdown, which benefitted over 150 participants aged 7-70s.

These programmes were delivered as part of a wider project called Making the Future, supported by EU Peace IV funding and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. So far, these virtual outreach programmes have ranged from film-making and archiving to comic book-making and photo embroidery, and have produced outstanding creative outputs.

This talk will focus on the first online engagement programme Ordinary People, Extraordinary Times, a three-month programme designed to encourage online and offline conversations during the COVID-19 lockdown, while also documenting how ordinary people, experienced this extraordinary time. The talk will also feature some highlights from the Stay Home Memories archive project, launched by PRONI in June 2020 to capture local experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This event will take place on zoom. The zoom link will also issue one hour before the beginning of the event.
