DAUK are a strictly non-profit, volunteer-led campaigning and lobbying organisation made up of UK doctors and medical students. Founded in 2018 by grassroot doctors, we advocate for the medical profession and a better NHS

Who will be speaking?

DAUK’s GP Committee was formed in 2020, during the pandemic, to speak out about the growing crisis in general practice.Our MP Briefing will be hosted by our current team: Dr Lizzie Toberty, Dr Steve Taylor, Dr Sarah Jacques and Dr Ellen Welch (bios below)

Why Can't I See My GP: The Book - Where can I read it?

Who is Dr Lizzie Toberty?

Dr Lizzie Toberty is DAUK's GP Lead. She qualified in 2010 and is a salaried GP in Newcastle. In her work with DAUK she has spoken to many media outlets, highlights being Kay Burley on Sky and writing for The Times. She firmly believes continuity of care could save the NHS

Who is Dr Sarah Jacques?

Dr Sarah Jacques qualified in 2003 and has worked as a GP in East Sussex for 16 years. In August 2022, Sarah suffered a breakdown due to burnout and took the hard decision to step away from medicine. She continues to advocate for the profession and joined DAUK to amplify this voice.

Who is Dr Steve Taylor?

Dr Steve Taylor qualified in 1989 and has been a GP for 27yrs, both a Partner and trainer in Manchester. He is passionate about general practice as it is the key to the success of the NHS. GPs have a unique place in understanding the needs of patients, the NHS and social care

Who is Dr Ellen Welch?

Accepted Answer

Dr. Ellen Welch is a salaried GP in Cumbria. With a background in Emergency medicine, she spent 10 years at sea as a cruise ship doctor which gave her a fresh respect for the NHS. Author of "Why Can't I See My GP" among other books, she firmly believes the NHS can thrive with the right investment
