Event description

Description

Join us for an afternoon of shadow puppet theatre, Mr Alzheimer's cupcakes and iced biscuits to launch the Mr Alzheimer’s Goes to School Campaign in Salford.

The Campaign’s main aim is to start conversations about dementia and to create a safe space for people to talk about the disease, in the school, at home and in the wider community. To do this, over the next couple of years each Salford primary school will be provided with a campaign bag that includes: Mr Alzheimer’s teddy, introduction post cards for family and friends, puzzles and games, Mr Alzheimer’s Goes to Toyland story, diary and a bag.

This campaign has been co-produced with the School Councils from St John's and St Andrew's CofE over the last two years. Students from both schools have taken Mr Alzheimer's home and out on trips to the local mosques, Trafford Centre, Tesco, local park etc. Pupils will be sharing their experiences and helping out with the Shadow Puppet performance on the day.

The teddies have been made by volunteers, we want to expand on this with a monthly local Stitchers and Stuffers group to help make a Mr Alzheimer's for every Salford primary school and library . To do this we will need people with a range of skills to help cut, stitch, stuff and put the bags together.

From stitchers to school councils, we would love you to join us on the 17th May to learn more and eat cake!
