Event description

Description

What is marine planning? Marine planning is a process that brings together all the different activities (recreation, environmental protection and transport to name a few) in our seas, to make informed and coordinated decisions about how to use and manage the marine environment sustainably.

Come along to this free event and have a go at being a marine planner by playing the Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) Challenge game. By playing the game, you will learn more about what we are doing and have a chance to get creative! Our aim is that you will come away with a better understanding of what marine planning is. Booking is essential, and places are limited so please book early. Refreshments will be available on arrival (please let us know if you have any requirements when booking).

As one of Scotland’s most diverse and dynamic marine regions, the Clyde is home to many different activities. Understanding how such a varied marine and coastal environment with multiple interests is planned can be complex, therefore having a balanced approach is very important. The Clyde Marine Planning Partnership (CMPP) is beginning the process of developing a statutory Regional Marine Plan for the Clyde Marine Region (the Firth of Clyde). Involving local communities in this is important and key to the CMPP’s approach of developing the Regional Marine Plan. This game session is an opportunity to learn more about marine planning and about our work as we progress towards developing the Regional Marine Plan. If you live locally or perhaps are a user of its environment and resources, we would love for you to come along and get involved!

This is a chance to get involved in the marine planning process; however, it is not the last! More events will be held throughout the Clyde area so if you can't make this date please check our website for other events and sign up to our newsletter to be sure to hear about future events. For more information about how the plan will be developed and other opportunities to engage please see the Statement of Public Participation for the Clyde Regional Marine Plan, which is available to download from the CMPP website.

Please visit the CMPP website - http://www.clydemarineplan.scot- for more information or if you have any questions, send us an email at: social@clydemarineplan.scot.

Please note: We would kindly request, if you book a spot at this event and aren’t able to attend that you cancel your booking. This will help us plan the session and will also free up a space for someone else who might want to attend. Your help with this is greatly appreciated.
