Mud Pie Academy Home School Sessions
Thu, 27 Apr 2017, 10:00 – Thu, 25 May 2017, 12:00 BST
Join us for these 5 weekly sessions in Birchfields Park held Thursdays 10:00am - 12pm, designed for home/flexi-educated children based on Forest School principles. Forest School is a UK-wide movement which has been shown to foster resilience, self-esteem and creativity. This is achieved by:
-encouraging child-led outdoor play
- giving the children small, achievable tasks
-creating a safe environment for children to take risks.
We will be playing games, lighting fires, making crafts using natural materials, building dens, using hand tools and learning about nature.
Parents are welcome to stay and observe the sessions though we recommend that you give the children the space they need to play. It is not compulsory for parents to stay though. We go ahead in all weathers (except thunderstorms and high winds) as we can provide a shelter and toileting facilities. You must have waterproofs, sturdy waterproof shoes/wellies and clothes you won't mind getting mucky as your child will get muddy in these sessions. A drink and snack will also be provided for the children.
All sessions are led by a qualified Level 3 Forest School Practitioner and a Community Arts Worker.
If you want to find out more and chat to us faceto facein the space we will be using then you might want to come to our free drop-in session on Sunday April 9th for parents and children, you can register an interest here:
