Description
How to give a newborn baby the best start in these trying times.
-
antenatal classes are cancelled without expectant parents knowing where to turn
-
often antenatal courses skim the surface when it comes to breastfeeding, leaving parents feeling unprepared
-
overworked staff on maternity wards often do not have the time to support a mother with breastfeeding
-
breastfeeding clinics are currently closed for parents who might be struggling
In these days of self-isolation and the possibility an unprecedented lockdown- it is more crucial than ever to get breastfeeding to work well for both the protection of the baby and the joy of the mother. Formula provides 0% protection against the plethora of contagious illnesses, so when it comes to breastfeeding every single drop counts! This course will save countless hours asking Dr Google questions that instil more fear than answers, or listening to everyone’s differing opinions rather than knowing the relevant evidence-based information.
This is an online 3 week course staring Sunday 22/3/20 and running for the 2 Sundays after that (1 hour sessions starting at 5pm). This event is unique as it will give opportunity for expectant parents to shape and help create the course they need before little one arrives.
Week 1:
How do I know my baby is getting enough milk?
Positioning and attachment (getting the latch right)
Hunger signals, use of dummies, CCK hormone
