A high start means this 12km walk including Glas Maol and Creag Leacach involves only 775 metres of climbing. This makes these good mountains for those who have not done a munro before. There are some good tracks and some parts with stonier ground along with a couple of steeper slopes. Views across to the Cairngorms along with the other hills around Glenshee make for a fabulous day out.
Although close to the ski resort, Creag Leacach in particular has a wilder feel.
We will meet at Spittal of Glenshee and share transport from there.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Are there any age limits to taking part?
If you are under 18 years of age you need to have a responsible adult with you. This is not advised for children under 14 years of age.
How fit do I need to be?
You should be comfortable walking for a few hours; be able to cover around 3 miles on level ground in an hour; be fit enough to go up flights of stairs easily and take part in regular physical activity several times a week. Sometime the ground is uneven so it helps to be comfortable walking off tracks as well as on tracks.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Meeting at the Spittal of Glenshee or possibly Blairgowrie means we can share transport to the start. There are buses from Perth to Blairgowrie. Let Fran know if you need help with transport.
What should I bring ?
Ensure you have everything for a day on the hills. Comfortable walking trousers( no jeans); Hiking boots ; Waterproof jacket and trousers; Spare layer ( fleece or similar); Hat and gloves; Packed lunch; Water and hot drink; Walking poles recommended. Speak to Fran if you have any queries about what to bring.
Carry everything in a rucsac with a waterproof liner inside it. Dry bags for keeping gear waterproofed are recommended.
What happens if the weather is bad?
In the event of bad weather or snow an alternative walk will be offered that will be of a similar length but lower down and Fran will buy everyone a cuppa at the end!
