When we think about Ancient Egypt, we often think about pyramids, mummies, and wonderful things fashioned from gold and gemstones. But Pharaonic Egypt was a long-lasting society, and we have a wide body of evidence which speak to the kinds of events and affairs which the ancient Pharaohs did not necersarily want everyone to know about! From misbehaving priests, to secret plots and conspiracies, to tabloid-style scandals, join Dr Campbell Price (Manchester Museum) and Dr Nicky Nielsen (University of Manchester) as they lift the air some ancient dirty laundry and investigate the evidence for murder, mayham and scandals in Ancient Egypt.

Talks:

"A Tale as Old as Time: The Harem Conspiracy of Ramesses III"

"Hatshepsut and Senenmut. The original tabloid scandal?"

"Hell Hath no Fury: The Civil War of the Cleopatras"

"Priests behaving badly: Papyrus Rylands and Late Period temple misdemenours"

All talks will be recorded.
