Muscle invasive bladder cancer - challenges around the pathway of care

This webinar will be presented by Helen Johnson who is a urology oncology clinical nurse specialist at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. She has been a CNS for over 20 years and is currently carrying out research into muscle invasive bladder cancer pathways and has a particular interest in treatment decision making.

Evidence tells us that bladder cancer treatment pathways for muscle invasive disease in the UK can be complicated, convoluted, and disparate. Multiple hospitals and treating teams are often involved in care, and patients report worse experiences than those with other cancers, citing a lack of high-quality information and support with decision making.This webinar will examine the challenges around the pathway of care for patients with muscle invasive bladder cancer. It will consider what the guidelines tell us, and what is really going on in real world settings, including the challenges relating to treatment decision making in this group. The role of the nurse specialist along the pathway trajectory will be discussed, as well as consideration of opportunities in improving patient care.

This event is for Urology Nurses and Clinical Nurse Specialists who may already be treating those with bladder cancer and is also open to nurses wishing to expand their knowledge of bladder cancer and who may be working in other areas of urology or cancer care.
