Who are the digital team?

The digital team plays a vital role in the management of museum information and multimedia to support the busy marketing, exhibitions and collections teams. We aim to be user focussed in all we do to improve the visitor experience online and in our museums. We also develop and manage digitisation technology, advising on digital preservation, photography and cataloguing.

Our Digital Team also works closely with South West Museum Development sharing their expertise with the region’s museum sector.

What is Museum Futures?

The Museum Futures programme is a year-long paid traineeship for 18-24 year olds that are new to the cultural heritage sector and interested in growing their professional and digital skills. Trainees will be paid a bursary of £13,350 (tax free) and work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Cultural Heritage. The 2020 cohort of trainees will start in January 2020.

Who should apply?

Because trainees will complete Level 3 diploma and gain in-work skills training and experiences to build their CV, we encourage young people aged 18-24 that have not completed an undergraduate degree to apply. Candidates with over 6 months paid or unpaid experience of working in a museum and/or a postgraduate qualification are not eligible to apply.

Museum Futures is positive action traineeship. We particularly welcome applications from candidates that are under-represented in the museum sector, including black and minority ethnic candidates, candidates from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and/or candidates with disability.
