Friday 18 November 2016: Late Opening + Live Music from 6.30pm with Phelan Burgoyne Quartet
Composer and percussionist Phelan Burgoyne returns for his third performance at Leighton House, this time bringing a new international quartet.
The group features some of the finest up and coming Jazz talents from Europe: Italian pianist and ECM recording artist Emanuele Maniscalco, German double bassist Lisa Hoppe and British guitarist Rob Luft. The quartet will be premiering specially written compositions for the evening based around the theme of travel. Friday 13 January 2017: Late Opening + Live Music from 6.30pm with Katy Jungmann & Chris Jerome
Katy is a lyrical saxophonist with a rich tone, who performs in London on the jazz and world music scene as well as writing original inspired material from film and singer song writing music.
Continuing the Latin theme that Katy loves so much from Stan Getz, she play with the Cuban street band 'Paseo Malanga' performing at festivals (Bosnian Rainforest, Tollpuddle Martyrs & Rise) and venues such as Royal Albert hall, Hampton Court & The Millennium Dome.
Katy's performing highlights have been collaborations with great jazz musicians, Anj Perin, Tony Thomas, Paul Weinreb, Richard Luck & Cameron Pierre and many more. In venues such as The South Bank Centre, The Bulls Head Barnes. Conway Hall and The Vortex; and for Companies such at Google, The Sun, recently including The BBC with 'Les Zoings' (horn & brass Fanfare band) for Royal Academy artist Bob and Roberta Smith.
Chris Jerome is a dynamic and versatile keyboard player /pianist /composer who has performed and recorded extensively with a multitude of artists. He was a member of the UK's premier saxophonist Courtney Pine's band for eight years, performing at major venues and festivals all over the world as well as featuring on his last two albums. He has also been part of legendary singer Tom Jones' band performing in numerous television shows across Europe and has performed on several TV shows with Lionel Ritchie.
Other artists with whom he has collaborated include Osibisa, Jazz Jamaica Allstars, Hugh Masekela, Maxi Jazz (Faithless) with The Soul Food Cafe (check out the album "Original Groovejuice"), Beverley Knight, Jamelia, Sister Sledge, Imagination, Rose Royce, Womack and Womack and many others.
