At this session, Jo Wiltcher (Museum Manager) will give a brief history of commissioning at Tunbridge Wells Museum & Art Gallery, share stories of projects that have worked well and not so well, and discuss the balance between caring for collections and sharing them in new and exiting ways. This will be followed by a tour of 'The Magic Lantern' display by artist Nicole Mollett.
So how do you begin working with an artist? Drawing from their experience on projects such as Public Art House and Hoodwink, Polly Harknett and Suzie Plumb (Hookwink Managers) will share their tips for a successful collaboration, from writing a good brief to managing the installation.
There will also be the opportunity to ask questions and to network with other museums and artists.
