Museums at Night and Connect10 2014 - The Birmingham briefing session
Event Information
Description
Interested in taking part in the Museums at Night festival and/or entering the Connect10 competition next year? Come along to our free, friendly morning briefing session: it’s for anyone working in a museum, gallery, historic house or other cultural institution.
Museums at Night is the annual after-hours festival showcasing the arts and heritage sector, which each year offers a great audience development opportunity. Connect10 is the competition that gives ten venues the chance to win an artist-led event and £2,000 as part of the festival.
Find out about the benefits and challenges involved in hosting an after-hours event, the advantages in working together with other venues and what it takes to be a Connect10 winner!
Learn how to organise a group of venues to take part in the festival and what it's like to host a top artist from the people who have done it before! Plus there will be plenty of opportunities to meet and chat with colleagues from your region.
Our guest speakers in Birmingham will be Matthew Chesney, from BACKLIT in Nottingham and Lindsey Braidley, Learning and Programmes Coordinator at the Roman Baths in Bath.
We will also be joined by Connect10 artist Julian Wild, who will share his experience of creating a participatory sculpture with Ironbridge Gorge's Enginuity for Museums at Night 2013.
Three workshops take place in the last week of September 2013, the other two will be in London and Bradford. Places are limited so please book early!
Arrive at 9.45am and help yourself to tea and coffee.
*Mid-morning refreshments will be provided, and an optional free lunch will be included in the day from 1-2pm. (there will be an opportunity to let us know about any dietary requirements once you receive your confirmation email).
*This briefing is supported by Arts Council England Lottery funding
