About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours

Welcome to MuseumsCamp!

Join us for a day of fun, learning, and networking at MuseumsCamp!

This in-person event brings together museum staff, volunteers, enthusiasts, academics, artists, freelancers, technologists and more.

The inspiration for MuseumsCamp 2025 is: The future of museums.

The event will be run in the style of an unconference / open space conference. This means that the attendees will set the agenda on the day. Everyone has the power to make the day what it is, rather than it being programmed by the organisers.

“The sum of the expertise of the people in the audience is greater than the sum of the expertise of the people on stage.” Dave Viner, writing about unconferences.

During the first hour, anyone can pitch their idea, problem or discussion topic. The programme for the day is created from votes in the room, and times and rooms will then be allocated.

Participants can attend any session and can choose to switch sessions.

To give you an idea about what MIGHT be discussed, we asked a question on Linkedin about what topics people would be interested in and these were some of the suggestions:

  • The future of civic museums
  • Social media
  • Collections; access, digitisation, resources to manage, documentation, etc.
  • Trauma-informed approaches in museums
  • How a truly inclusive museum feels?
  • How to sustain a career in museums?
  • Values-led practice
  • Being places for health and healing
  • Will AI help or harm museums?
