About this event

  • 4 hours

Full of Noises hosts a day of training for creative practitioners interested in building skills in facilitating music lessons for children under 5.

Venue: Full of Noises, Piel View House, Barrow Park.

In 2023 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (hcmf//) released a Music at Play online video series, featuring 24 sessions (12 for newborns and young toddlers / 12 for older toddlers and pre-schoolers) expertly led by creative education practitioners Satnam Galsian and Jess Baker.

Designed specifically to support early years development, these sessions use music to help broaden young children’s understanding of the world through sound as well as develop movement, fine motor, social and language skills.

They’re also a perfect vehicle for fun and exploration for children and their families.

As part of its work to support the sector to gain a better understanding of early years as a specialised area of music education, hcmf// is delighted to partner with Full of Noises to deliver a training day for music practitioners interested to learn more about this subject.

Led by hcmf// Learning & Participation Manager Sophie Cooper (a music for early years specialist), the training day will use the Music at Play series as a starting point for exploration and will be split into two sessions based on age-range.

  • The morning session will focus on newborns and young toddlers 11am-12.30pm.
  • The afternoon look at material for older toddlers and pre-school age children 1.30-3pm.

By the end of the day, you will have a better understanding of how to craft an excellent music session for children under 5 and their families.

Both sessions are free to attend but you must book. And you must attend both sessions rather than one or the other.

If you are an early years provider or music practitioner and would like to discuss the possibility of arranging training in your setting, please contact Sophie Cooper at s.cooper@hud.ac.uk
