This workshop explores the Global Education Crisis through the lens of music education. Drawing on international research, real-world case studies, and personal experience, it challenges dominant Western narratives and invites participants to think critically about equity, decolonisation, and access. Through open discussion and collaborative reflection, educators will explore how music can be a tool for advocacy, community connection and educational justice, both locally and internationally.

This workshop will be delivered by Isabella Gonzalez Diaz. Isabella is a Venezuelan-born French hornist, conductor, composer, and music educator based in Scotland. She is passionate about inclusive, community-driven music making. Isabella works with various organizations such as the Benedetti Foundation, Sistema Scotland, and the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland. She is also the founder of Musica Unita, a community music programme in collaboration with Africa Music School, promoting music education in Uganda. As an emerging conductor in Scotland, she works with orchestras and youth choirs across the country. In addition to performing and mentoring, Isabella is an experienced music workshop leader, facilitating creative and engaging workshops for people of all ages and abilities. Her work reflects a deep commitment to education, accessibility, and s collaborative music-making.
