MIM 115: 13th October - Inside SXSW: Building Global Pathways

Adem Holness is a seasoned cultural strategist and music curator, currently serving as the Head of Music for SXSW London. In this pivotal role, he oversees all music programming and partnerships for the inaugural European edition of the renowned Austin-based festival, set to debut in June 2025 in Shoreditch, London.

Prior to joining SXSW, Adem was the Head of Contemporary Music at the Southbank Centre, Europe's largest arts venue. There, he curated over 150 music events annually, including high-profile projects such as Stormzy's "Live from Queen Elizabeth Hall" and Honey Dijon’s "Honey Verse." His tenure at Southbank Centre was marked by a commitment to showcasing diverse musical voices and fostering inclusive cultural experiences.

Adem's career also includes significant contributions as the Music Curator at the Horniman Museum, where he launched the award-winning 696 Festival—an initiative celebrating Black British music and culture. Additionally, he served as a Relationship Manager for Arts Council England, focusing on talent development and support for underrepresented artists.

A Fellow of the Clore Leadership Programme and a member of the inaugural cohort of PRS Foundation’s Power Up scheme, Adem is dedicated to empowering Black music creators and industry professionals. His work continues to influence and shape the future of music in both the UK and internationally.
