MIM 117: 27th October - Reggae: Roots, Legacy & The Museum

The Reggae Museum is the brainchild of musical entrepreneur Colin Robinson. Born in Jamaica, Colin moved to the UK as a child in the early 1960s and although a trained electrician, his interest in music came at an early age.

Colin is known as a Reggae music entrepreneur and producer and has also (in collaboration with others) has promoted a number of high profile shows, particularly in the 1980s and 90s. He has worked as a manager and agent for Reggae artists including Sanchez, Maxi Priest, Sugar Minott, Winston Reedy, Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, Wayne Marshall, John Holt, Desmond Dekker and Matumbi, Afrikan Simba, Nereus Joseph among many others as well as working with other producers such as Kenny Edgehill. A frequent visitor to his native Jamaica, Colin was also advisor to the Garnett Silk family.

The actual Exhibition will feature a compilation of the history and worldwide growth of Reggae Music and will provide visitors with the opportunity to see the major influences of this iconic musical genre.
