Music and Dance in the time of Cromwell - the effects of changes brought about by the Civil War
About this event
Natalie Kershaw PGCE MA (Mus) will discuss the English Civil War and the impact of the changing political and economic environments on music and dance in the time of Cromwell.
Natalie is a PhD student at the University of Birmingham researching the role of the English Instrumentalist 1650-1750. It was during this research that she was sidetracked by the English Civil War and the impact of the changing political and economic environments on musicians.
Natalie has a background in archaeology, history and music and has taught in secondary schools and colleges within these areas. She has her own musical teaching practice which is temporarily on hold while she concentrates on her research and studies. She also has a role as a teacher in an alternative provision and is a very active mother of two young children.
She is looking forward to sharing some of my findings of her research and hopefully prompting discussion in this volatile area of history.
