Music Nairn - Maxwell Quartet

Having first played folk and classical music together as youngsters, the Maxwell Quartet was formed during their postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Winners of both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 9th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition in 2017, they have since been hailed as “brilliantly fresh, unexpected and exhilarating” (The Herald) and “superb storytelling by four great communicators” (The Strad). Today, they are recognised as one of Britain’s leading young string quartets, celebrated for their deep roots in Scottish folk tradition and their commitment to expanding the string quartet repertoire through imaginative projects and programmes.
