Description

Samuel Araujo is Professor of Ethnomusicology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. In this public lecture he will discuss his long-term work on music, violence, politics, and the public interest, emphasising the unique role of participatory research in engaging such issues within and beyond the walls of academia.

His talk will be followed by a Q&A session and a panel discussion of the key themes arising from the 2nd International Symposium on Social Impact of Making Music, of which this is the closing keynote session. The session will be hosted by Professor John Sloboda, Research Professor at the Guildhall School, and Symposium Chair.
