Music Scholarship & Aptitude Test: 1-to-1 Lessons on Zoom Updated for 2026
Overview
Our books are now open for specialist Music Aptitude Test tutoring.
We are offering tutoring for 2027 State Secondary School Music Scholarship Admissions. All questions will be answered in the lesson. Please book early to secure your slot as we will become very heavily booked once we enter the Spring to Summer months. Our peak time for tutoring is April to October. Early booking is advised as you may require more than one lesson to prepare for the tests. Please do not leave it until the last minute to prepare. We are unable to speak to you on the phone as we are very busy tutors so please read all the information below or check out our very comprehensive FAQ guide which will answer all questions about the Music Scholarship process.

What We Offer:
We tailor this lesson to the exact requirements of your chosen school(s). We can prepare you for any UK school and any instrument including voice. We can also prepare you for the Round 2 auditions for schools that hold these separately. Please do not email us to ask this as we are receiving many emails daily from customers that have not read this event description or the FAQ guide above and we do not have the resources to reply to emails.
The 1 hour lesson includes time to speak to parents at the beginning and end of the lesson where the tutor will answer all of your questions and queries as well as give feedback on the session. Please arrive promptly as the sessions will not overrun if you are late to attend.
If additional sessions are required, please book via this same page only.
We have been successfully preparing students for the first and second round of the scholarship. The tests are based on the Standard MAT test but they also include one Enhanced Test that combines the extra features used by schools such as Ashmole and Habs/Prendergast. You can download the test materials here: https://musicaptitudetest.wordpress.com/.
Please note our Scholarship Specialist teachers are unable to offer phone or email consultations or support but we will answer all your questions about the scholarship process in the 60 minute lesson.

Our 1-to-1 lessons will help Year 4, 5 and 6 musicians prepare for the upcoming Music Scholarships for state secondary admissions. The session will focus on Music Aptitude Test training that is the first round of the selective music intake process.
If you would like to focus on Round Two, have your instrument(s) ready and we will listen to your audition piece(s) and give advice on performance as well as prep the interview questions with you.
This is an individual training session lasting 60 minutes. More than one session may be required to prepare you for the test. We will advise at the first lesson how many sessions are recommended.
Terms and Conditions: We cannot refund or reschedule the online lesson once booked. Do make sure that you provide your mobile number so that we can contact you at the start of the lesson if you do not log on to Zoom. We can also offer the lesson by WhatsApp or FaceTime but please request this on the booking form. Do ensure that you test this out well in advance of your booked lesson. Your session will begin and finish at the booked times. You are welcome to sell on your lesson space to a classmate if you cannot attend as long as you remember to pass on the Zoom link & Eventbrite ticket confirmation to ensure they have all the information required to turn up to the session on time.
