Event description

Description

"Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun!" Mary Lou Cook.

If you would like to break some rules, take some risks and be creative then this workshop with tutor Matthew Hemson is for you! Using our innate gift of music we will explore our 5 senses (and our 6th sense too) to create a musical experience that inspires inventive musical engagement for both teachers and pupils.

We will be talking, moving, playing, making music!

  • Composing/playing new music as a group using simple visual aids
  • Exploring music together by using sound, resonance, touch, silence, song
  • Learning interactive sensory music games/activities together and discussing how these can be used in the classroom to enhance musical engagement, learning and inclusion
  • Course participants will come away with a "Sense & Sense Ability Musical Toolkit" of engaging strategies & activities to use across key stage 1 & 2 to develop musical skills for children in order for them progress to the next level of musical excellence.
  • The toolkit will provide a 'hook' into productive music sessions for the non-specialist

This event is aimed at Music Leaders, Tutors, School Teachers specialist and non-specialist. It's also good for Inclusion Leaders in special school .

Outcomes for participants

  • Learning a new framework that enables children to access creative music-making
  • Engaging in new musical activities
  • Creating an enabling environment that stimulates learning and wellbeing
  • Attendees can cascade the learning back in school and thereby raise standards in musicality, creativity and performance across the school
