Theme: Building Global Communities Through Music Tourism

A place’s rich music tourism offer can not only attract visitors and drive economic development, but also build strong communities, attract investment and encourage people to relocate. If a town or city has a focus on music, from promoting its heritage to encouraging a vibrant music scene to develop, then opportunities for growth and a renowned sense of belonging will develop and a new networks of fans, companies and organisations emerge. These dynamics will be the overarching theme of the fifth global Music Tourism Convention, which will be held in Cleveland, MS, USA from Sept 28th to Oct 1st 2021.

What we're planning:

-> This will be our 5th global edition, following previous events in Europe and North America

-> We’ll have attendees and speakers from global tourism boards, music festivals & events, music content creators, tour organisers, tourism experts and the music & tourism industries.

-> There will be three evening events, two days of talks, as well as a full music tourism sightseeing day after the conference.

-> The event will be held in person, with COVID-19 protective measures implemented to ensure the safety of everyone involved or participating in the event.

  • 28 Sept 2021 - Opening Reception @ The GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi
  • 29 Sept 2021 - Main Convention Day 1 @ Lyric Hotel, Cleveland, MS & evening event @ Dockery Farms
  • 30 Sept 2021 - Main Convention Day 2 & Happy Hour @ Lyric Hotel, Cleveland, MS
  • 01 Oct 2021 - Full day of music tourism. We’ll be showcasing some of the best music tourism sites that the Mississippi Delta has to offer, from the BB King Museum & Club Ebony in Indianola to Morgan Freeman’s Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale (limited capacity).

Music Tourism Convention is the world’s most extensive conference bringing together the music and tourism sectors to explore how music impacts, benefits and improves tourism offers, from festivals to heritage, music trails to food and music partnerships.
