MUSIC - Weekend Buskers April 2011
Event Information
Description
We are delighted to present the best of local music in an acoustic, informal way in our café most Saturdays and Sundays. These are cosy, chilled out sessions where you may even end up sitting on the sofa next to the musician. The perfect end to a weekend!
Saturday 2 April - Syd Meats
Syd Meats has never watched himself play, but apparently he's funny and sings about mayflies, leaping trout, and prawns.
Sunday 3 April - Sarah Saville
Sarah is a singer/songwriter who sings a mix of her own material and covers. Her beautiful voice and amazingly big repetoire will give you an afternoon of songs you've never heard, ones you know well, and ones you'd forgotten you loved.
Saturday 9 April - Steve Lowis
Steve Lowis is a singer songwriter from North Yorkshire. Currently living in Southampton he has played at many of the City’s finest music venues including quite a few times at The Art House, where he also organises our 'Three Monkeys' event!
Sunday 17 April - Savage Brickwork
Savage Brickwork are a duo playing rock tunes live & unplugged. Nigel Gordon & Julian Caesar have played in various bands over many years and have now come together to share some of their favorite songs with you. Come along, sing along & enjoy a fun afternoon.
Saturday 23 April - Eyes Like The Sky
Eyes Like The Sky are a Southampton based trio throwing out pretty powerful rock. The band consists of songwriter Rob Holt, multi-instrumentalist Steve Bega and Southampton’s original drumming sensation; Mr Michael Breach. They take influences from a variety of different musical styles, but particularly channel the likes of Jeff Buckley, Red House Painters, Ryan Adams and Grant Lee Buffalo. Their debut album “Goodnight, Autumn Loop” has taken years to complete, but it’s nearly done. Gigs will surely follow.
Sunday 24 April - Jim Chorley
A regular at The Art House, Jim's beautiful lyrics about love, nature, trees and sunshine will lift your spirits.
