About this Event
Musica Antica Rotherhithe present arias by four of the greatest and yet most rarely-heard composers of the 17th Century, beginning with the sworn rivals Jacopo Peri and Giulio Caccini, forced to work together at the very birth of opera, and culminating in the ‘two swans’ of Luigi Rossi and Francesco Cavalli, who became Europe’s most popular composers in the wake of the death of Claudio Monteverdi.
