Event description

Description

You are in for a treat with our musical boat trips at Leeds Waterfront Festival! We promise you an intimate gig with an audience of just 12, sailing along the river, entertained by leading local acoustic talent. You will be in the capable hands of the Safe Anchor Trust on one of their lovely boats! On arrival you will be greeted with a glass of prosecco and even an Oyster from the lovely Stew & Oyster people and invited to just sit back and enjoy the ride, get lost in the music and the changing landscape as the city grows on the south side.

Our boat trips are brought to you in partnership with CITU, working to re-imagine the environment along the river you'll be sailing through.

Performing for you is Tamar. Back in 2014, Barney and Olly met in a small Devonshire pub, a place that is still very close to their hearts and an inn that will always be the home of this duo. Over many pints of Guinness and a long evening of playing traditional tunes, they realised that as 2 young lads they had a unique connection through this genre of music. Since that day they have continued to play, write and gig together as Tamar.
As of Christmas 2016, they finally decided to set up a home studio for a week above Olly's garage. Over the course of 5 days the boys played 5 gigs and recorded a 13 track album... It is an collection of original songs written by Olly and Barney that focusses on the landscapes, stories and legends of the South West of England, specifically their beloved Dartmoor.
Tamar see it as their duty to keep the folk music tradition alive, especially writing new music that speaks of real places, people and traditions. This album is their first mark on the world and hopefully the start of a long musical partnership.

Please note: Tamar will be carrying out two performances, you are welcome to stay on board and catch them both but you MUST book each performance trip separately.
