This course is especially designed for those who are confident with their portfolio and style, but are looking to better communicate this online. You may have your own website, but feel your online presence could be improved. We can enable you to fine tune your content, and migrate what you already have to sites such as WordPress, giving you greater control over this content.
You will consider and discuss best practice and examine current examples of professional websites. This will be followed by scoping and wireframing sessions, and discussions of approaches, tools, accessibility, social media strategies, online archive and publishing opportunities. There will also we lab-based workshop sessions to introduce you to WordPress. There also be a focus on bringing you up to speed with the professional online context of your music, the importance of which has never been greater in the music industry. We'll even guide you through issues such a music law, studying copyright and collection, performance royalties and contracts. This course is hosted in our state-of-the-art computer labs at Goldsmiths. You do not need to bring in a laptop, but are more welcome to do so. You will also be asked to complete online research between sessions so that you can draw the most out of this ten-week programme.
