My Care, My Way Workshop
Fri 9 June 2017, 10:30 – 13:30 BST
I started working in healthcare over 20years ago, and over the years, I have seen so many changes in the care and support being provided within the NHS & Social care settings. These changes have caused me to breakdown on numerous occasions, I have questioned myself time and time again, asking if this is the sort of care I want for myself. Many people now can't bear the thought of care homes.
In as much as there are good nurses and healthcare assistance, however, many of them have been caught up in the compassion fatigue syndrome that they have lost their compassion and kindness towards service users/patients, and this on a daily basis is not helping patients/service uses, as a matter of fact, it is causing them to become more poorly. For this reason, I have decided to set up a workshop to get people to start thinking about their care, we all know that the NHS is running low on fuel. Yes we may think that we are not old enough to start planning for that, the truth is, you can be involved in an accident that could cause you to lose your independent and be needing help with your care and support. So why not take couple of hours to think and put a plan in place, JUST IN CASE... or even, attend so you can have some idea as to what your parents may need.
The workshop will be base around the person centred framework that is used in the NHS. It will be a plan that you will come up with for yourself and you will have a portfolio that you can add to or remove from as your life journey unfold.
For the workshop, you will need to bring the following.
1. A folder
2. Pictures that are important to you
3. And anything that you think is important to you.
The workshop is free but you can give a donation on the day if you wish.
Free refreshments will be provided, but please do feel free to bring your own.
