About this Event
Sean's fun and lively presentation style is guaranteed to engage anyone interested in pursuing a career in digital media.
This session will focus on Sean's international career pathway and his current work. It will be a live interview with Sean by Sharon Trotter, Waltham Forest Cultural Education Partnership Lead. There will also be an opportunity to ask Sean questions via the moderated chat.
The session will also highlight why creativity is so important to employers and the importance of creative industries to the UK economy.
Who is this for?
This is aimed at children and young people in years 8 to13 (ages 12-18) but may also be of interest to children in years 6 and 7 (ages 9-12).
This session is free and we welcome children, young people, teachers, parents and carers to join us.
About Sean:
Sean Rodrigo is a Walthamstow-based Virtual Reality Artist / Speaker working with innovative XR technology such as virtual reality as a core creative tool to achieve engaging, insightful and meaningful experiences.
Over the last 13 years Sean has worked as a commercial creative in film television and advertising for brand such as MTV and Fremantle Media with extensive experience in technical and creative brand campaigns. His current work ranges from live painted VR installation artwork to designing prototype products and VR storyboards in super fast timeframes – sometimes mixing technology with traditional tools such as Augmented Reality, Spatial computing, 3D Scanning, Motion Capture and Interactive Real-time.
Sean’s commercial work has taken him to visit MIT Media labs, engagements at events in Barcelona, Moscow, Dublin, Berlin and Vienna. Sean lecturers at St Paul’s Girls in London, Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia, The Tate Exchange in Liverpool, has spoken at the British Film Institute (BFI) and School of Visual Arts in New York (SVA). He also works for University College London (UCL) as Associate Staff and UCL360 / recently VR Artist in Residence School of Anthropology and current Ladbible Group Immersive Artist in Residence.

This event forms part of national careers week. There is also on demand creative careers tutorials premiering on our You Tube Channel at 9am on Tuesday 2nd March (part 1) and Thursday 4th March (part 2). Other creative careers events during the week are also on our website.
