Myerscough College and University Centre are hosting the Annual MyFuture Expo and Arbor Day on Wednesday 7th February 2024 , 9am until 4pm.

We specialise in education and training for the land-based and sports industries from Entry Level/ Level 1 to Level 7 Master’s Degrees. With more than 20 exciting subjects from Agriculture and Animal Studies to Golf, Gamekeeping and Motorsports, the College provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience and academic knowledge to secure their dream career.

This face-to-face event will be held at our main Preston campus in Lancashire. It will be an opportunity for students from all our Northwest campuses to talk to representatives from a range of sectors in our exhibition spaces, and to attend workshops and seminars led by industry professionals.

Why are we seeking help from employers?

We hold this event to inspire our students to consider new opportunities and to develop their career management and employability skills. We greatly value the advice and time that employers and organisations give to our students by supporting these events. It is hoped that, as a result of speaking face to face to industry professionals, our students will improve their career readiness and gain a better understanding of what employers are looking for when recruiting.

We hope that you would like to participate in this event by either:

• having a stand and informally chatting to students about jobs and opportunities, and/or by

• facilitating a group workshop or talk. This session would be roughly 20-30 minutes long and could be a presentation on a topic of your choice, such as, how you got to where you are now, or an opportunity to share your knowledge on things that you wish you knew when you first started in you field.

Refreshments

This is a free event for all involved. The college will supply refreshments throughout the day and lunchtime catering to all exhibitor’s and speakers. Free visitor parking will also be provided, as will a breakfast roll to kick start the day.

Outline of the day

People will be available to help on the day, with set up and take down. If you need any specific support, please let us know, so that we can get this support arranged.

• 08:00 Onwards – Arrival/Set up. (Follow careers fair signage and you will be directed to the relevant area to sign in. We can arrange extra help for carrying heavy items.)

• 09:30 Start – the doors will open to students. (Student groups will be allocated slots throughout the day to ensure a constant flow through the exhibition areas. We are planning for over 1.5 thousand students to attend this event.)

• 16:00 Finish/Pack up – the event will finish just after 16:00 hrs. (Please do not pack up until 16:00 hrs, as students will still be coming into the exhibition spaces and may wish to speak to you.)

• Depart - we anticipate you will be leaving between 16:00-16:15 (dependent upon how quickly you can pack away).

To register your interest in taking part as an exhibitor, or as a guest speaker, please book on Eventbrite using this page. Once registered, more details will follow closer to the event.

The registration form will only take a moment of your time and will ask a few questions to provide us with an idea of what resources you will be bringing (i.e., Banners, stands, screens etc); if you require a power source; the number of colleagues attending; and whether you would like to get involved in delivering a talk / workshop.

We aim to encourage our students to develop these skills through our own Myerscough Award which has 3 levels - Bronze, Silver, and Gold. If you would be willing to sponsor a special achievement award for this event, this would be amazing and help us to promote the message of the importance of developing the skills that employers are looking for.
