Event description

Description

Every wondered how bacteria affect our health and wellbeing? How does our diet influence these bacteria, and why does it matter?

Join Tim Spector to explore how the bugs that live in (and on) us can impact our lives and are associated with obesity, diabetes, allergies, and even depression.

Tim Spector is Professor of Genetics at King’s College London and the author of 'The Diet Myth' and 'Identically Different'. His current research focuses on omics and the microbiome and he directs the crowdfunded British Gut Microbiome project. He is a major contributor to the largest scientific nutrition research project, showing that individual responses to the same foods are unique, even between identical twins. He is a prolific writer with several popular science books and a regular blog, focusing on genetics, epigenetics and most recently microbiome. Tim will be signing copies of his new book after the talk.

This public event runs alongside the Exploring Human Host-Microbiome Interactions in Health and Disease conference (23-25 October) at the Wellcome Genome Campus which will bring together the world’s leading microbiome researchers.
