Event description

Description

Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) is among the fastest growing economies in SE Asia. Its young and dynamic population of 50 million is strategically located between China, India and ASEAN, three important growth centres in the 21st century...

It is a frontier market so not one for inexperienced exporters but over the next five years, DIT Burma will be working to significantly increase the presence of UK businesses in four key sectors: education, energy, financial services and infrastructure where significant export opportunities are live or going live in the near future. You can get an overview here and there will be a Technical and Vocational Education and Training event in Yangon in January 2018.

Douglas Barnes is Head of DIT in Myanmar and will be at Birmingham Chamber of Commerce on 6th December to provide a market briefing and offer a 20 minute 1:1 to companies who would like a more detailed discussion on their prospects.

08:00-08:30 - Breakfast and networking
08:30-09:30 - Briefing and Round Table discussion
09:40-11:40 - 1:1 Appointments (if you would like a 1:1 you can select a time during the booking process)

DIT in Myanmar are supported for exporters in other sectors by the British Chamber in Myanmar, so if you are from one of the following sectors, Douglas is happy to talk to you and will refer you onto BCCM.

  • Healthcare and pharmaceuticals

  • Manufacturing

  • Telecommunications

  • Security Sector
