£80 deposit - FULLY REFUNDED after attendance and completion of the whole course along with a completed statement of circumstance. This course is provided without charge for Women who are carers, live in Westminster or Kensington & Chelsea Borough and have NOT yet started a small business nor registered as self-employed. It is predominately funded by Rotary International. Please note – once confirmed, 7 days notice is required for a part-refund or transfer to another course if available. No refunds, transfers or date changes will be made within 7 days of the course start date. A £5 admin fee has been charged and is non-refundable.

If you are a woman who has caring responsibilities , live in Westminster or Kensington & Chelsea Borough who wants to take a step forward and get paid for what you always wanted to do, we can help you to fulfil your dream.

Paddington Rotary in partnership with the Award Winning Portobello Business Centre and the trainer Sarah-Jane Menato bring you a programme that will take you from having the seed of a business idea through to the germination and growth process to getting your business off the ground and up and running.

This flexible and comprehensive course, specifically designed for women, runs one-day-a-week (Wednesdays) over a 9-week period.  There is no session in half term week, 28th May 2018.

Starting and running a business takes having an idea, motivation, time, energy and skill. This is an opportunity to explore what’s involved and see for yourself just how easy it might be to set up and run your own business.  You could be up and running in just 9 weeks.

If you have a business idea, a hobby you’d like to make money from, or are simply wondering if you’ve got what it takes, then this course is for you. It will answer your questions, help you risk assess your ideas and support you in exploring how being self-employed might work for you. In the company of like-minded women you will learn a great deal, have a lot of fun and cover topics that include:

Wednesday 2nd May 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 1

  •  Introductions and overview of the course
  •  Creating a supportive learning environment
  •  What an entrepreneur is and the basics of starting a business
  •  What a business plan is and who it’s for

Wednesday 9th May 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 2

  •  Types of business structures
  •  Defining the “MyLifeMix” for each participant
  •  Vision and Mission Statements  

Wednesday 16th May 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 3

  •  Introduction to Market Research and Marketing
  •  Time Management     

Wednesday 23rd May 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 4

  •  Introduction to Social Media and Websites
  • Selling, pitching and presentation skills

Wednesday 6th June 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 5

  •  Introduction to Risk Assessment and Health and Safety
  •  Taking the Fear out of Financial Forecasting part 1       

Wednesday 13th June 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 6

  • Record keeping
  • Taking the Fear out of Financial Forecasting part 2
  • Business plan review

Wednesday 20th June 9.30 – 2.30 - Week 7

  •  Making the most of networking
  •  What the tax man needs and intro to HMRC
  •  Insurance and Legal matters

Booking Fees: This course is provided without charge for Women who have NOT yet started a small business nor registered as self-employed. It is predominately funded by Rotary International.

An £80 refundable deposit secures your place on the course. 

Refunds will be made after attendance and completion of the whole course along with a completed business plan and/or a statement of circumstance.
